Thank God It Wasn't Lee Greenwood

So, I'm driving home from the Astros game last night, and I have the "traffic and weather together" station tuned in on my radio, because it's also the home of the Astros and I'm listening to the post game show. During one of the commercial breaks, the station plays one of those patriotic kick-ass promos so familiar to right-wing GOPer stations. Playing in the background of the promo is patriotic music meant to put you in the mood.

Just one thing: the song is "Freedom." For those not familiar with "Freedom," it's a Sir Paul McCartney song written and released in 2001, just after 9/11. The basic chorus and verse of the song is "Freedom. Freedom. Freedom." That's about it. It's a little something that McCartney probably put together in about five minutes.

I just thought that it was funny that the radio station was playing a song by a Brit to pump up the patriotic fervor of a bunch right wing nutjobs.

Or maybe they thought Astros fans could use a little pumping up of the patriotic fervor.

That could be, though the Astros are on a winning streak and the fans are kind of pumped at the moment.
